Royal Canadian Geographical Society
I worked with the Royal Canadian Geographical Society during the summer of 2018 as their Communication and Event Planning Assistant. I supported the development and execution of marketing strategies in digital and traditional media through research, press releases, and live social media coverage of events. I also supported the development and execution of online marketing strategies through research, generating the content, and tracking metrics.
IPAC
During this time, the main project I worked on was the launch of the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada project (IPAC). Project highlights include assisting with the development, execution, and tracking of the digital marketing campaign that received over 1 million engagements on the launch day and managing a content creation project from start to finish, including conception, interviews, copy, and graphics (see left).
Traditional Media
In addition to assisting with digital communication, I worked on various traditional media tasks, including creating and organizing a comprehensive media list and writing and editing press releases and speaking notes.
Event Planning
As part of my helping with events, I created and maintained full event schedules, speaking notes, and RSVP lists and provided hands-on assistance during events.
